Jen’s Graduation || Houston Portrait Photographer

Dear world, let me introduce you to my best friend, Jen.

She graduated from the University of Houston and we’re all very proud of her! So much so that we have been proud of her since she graduated… last May… For whatever reason, we had our session, her graduation party, and I tucked all of the photographs away to keep all for myself. Oops.

Congratulations, Jen! Even if I hoarded your photographs for months…

Wedding Favors

With our wedding right around the corner and so many things left to do beforehand, it doesn’t take much these days for me to feel like I accomplished something. Granted, I could have called the caterer that we haven’t booked, yet.. or maybe find some shoes for my maid of honor to wear. But instead, I sat at home and worked through most of our wedding favors. I only say it that way because I really wasn’t sure if I was going to like how the end result looked. Who knew if it was going to be as cute and adorable as I had it beautifully depicted in my mind?!
I have to say… I am noooot disappointed. *grins*

Omar and I play Scrabble on a daily basis and I knew that I wanted to incorporate something that we love to do into the wedding favors. And since getting everyone an XboX seemed a little out of the question, using Scrabble tiles seemed appropriate! I would love to say that I came up with the idea all by myself, but I can’t. Sadly, I also can’t remember exactly which awesome blog I stumbled upon it at, but I will see what I can do to find it again!

Once I got everything together and laid out all of the Scrabble tiles, I called Omar over to help me come up with four-letter words. Needless to say, I probably should have been more specific about them being appropriate four-letter words. Note to self: boys will be boys. But being the Scrabble king he is, he was able to come up with words including almost all of the tiles – we just ended up with a ‘Q’ and some ‘U’s! I was impressed!

Things we used:
Slider top tin cans from Paper Mart.
Multiple sets of Scrabble tiles.
Rubber stamps.
Adhesive labels.
Magnets.

There are still a few finishing touches to be added, but I’ll be sure to post those after it’s all said and done! After all, with 45 days to go, I really don’t have any more room for procrastination.

Virginia

All of my family lives in Texas. And when I say “all of my family,” I mean my entire family. Holidays are spent in Texas. Birthdays are spent in Texas. Every occasion is spent in Texas. Needless to say, I am thrilled that my soon-to-be in-laws live elsewhere, but probably not for the usual reasons. ;] I just really enjoy being able to book a flight somewhere out of Texas to go visit people. Why? Who knows, but it makes bringing along a camera really exciting.
This past weekend, we got to fly out to Virginia Beach to see my lovely sister-in-law get her master’s degree! (No big deal, right? Pft.)

Afterwards, I of course went to take pictures of what any normal person with a camera would take pictures of: trees and leaves! Just like taking pictures of the greenery at the zoo or the doors in China when you’re at the Great Wall.

Unfortunately, it was a short-lived weekend… But for now, I can appreciate having a reason to book another flight out!

Cross Family || Portrait Photographer || Katy, TX

A few weeks ago, I got another chance to photograph my cousin, Westin, and his parents after a fantastic family dinner. I realize that I am probably completely biased in this matter, but is this family not adorable? Westin is such a serious little guy, so it was a tad challenging to get him to show off his smile. But after a some goofy noises and jumping around, we got a few!

Wrinkle in Time

Despite being in my fifth (or so) year of college, I hadn’t stepped into a library in years until tonight. Not that we had gone to actually use the library for learning (who does that, right?) – we were there to shoot a short film. With any luck, it will come out fantastic and I will be able to post it for all of you to laugh at later. *grins*

Anyway, what it made me realize is that I am a complete and utter nerd. What? There are eight levels to this place? What? There’s a basement? What? There are rows and rows and rows of actual books?

See – told you – nerd.
